Allergy Tip of the Day: Surviving Winter with Allergies
Freezing temperatures brought an end to seasonal pollen allergies. But if you are one of the millions of people living with winter allergies, a home can actually contribute to sickness due to winter allergens, especially molds, dust mites and animal dander.
Three of the most common allergens – house dust mites, animal dander, and cockroach droppings- are worse in winter when there is less ventilation.
These tips will help you breathe better all winter long.
Ventilate your home as often as possible by opening windows to allow fresh air to circulate.
Keep indoor humidity below 50% to prevent dust mites.
Keep pets out of bedrooms to prevent the spread of dander.
Keep food areas clean and dry to prevent cockroaches.
