Did You Know?: Fruit
If grass pollen or ragweed in the air makes you feel miserable, you may also have something called “oral allergy syndrome.” Certain fruits may cause itchy mouth and scratchy throat. Fruits such as apples, pears, bananas, and peaches share proteins that the body confuses for foreign invaders. In some cases, this allergy can become severe, so check with your allergist if you start to feel these symptoms.
